The musicians have played an essential part in Tsuumi from the very beginning. Even though the composition of the band has somewhat varied over the years, the band leader Hannu Kella has preserved the unique line; the music of Tsuumi Sound System continues to rely on fusion and the band’s original compositions. Still, you can hear the respect for, and knowledge of, Finnish musical tradition loud and clear. “You have to know the tradition in order to vary and apply it” says Kella, who composes most of Tsuumi’s music.
Tsuumi Sound System tours the world on its own as well and it has released five records: Kesä Tanssii (1999), Risteys (2000), Avoin Kenttä (2002), Rajaton Tapaus (2004) and Hotas (2007).
